Columbarium

Choosing The Right Type of Columbarium

Honoring a loved one who has passed on is a personal experience, and every family handles this event in a way that best represents the person’s legacy. Since cremation has overtaken traditional burial as the more popular choice over the last seven years, there is an increasing need for more options for a final resting place. Columbarium Planners has been designing and building columbariums as a sacred final resting place since 1994, and here are some things to take into consideration as you determine which type is best for your needs.

Indoor Columbarium

Indoor columbariums can be located within a church. There are certain factors to take into consideration before having one built, such as security, appearance, noise, visibility, and proximity of parking. You should also consider any future expansion possibilities of the columbarium and/or church.

Outdoor Columbarium

Outdoor columbariums are the most common type. They may contain gardens and other landscaping features that create a beautiful, sacred space for remembering the loved one, as well as a space for prayer and meditation. With these, you will want to consider the maintenance, landscape design, and other logistics when making your decision.

What We Offer

No two of our columbariums are the same. Our designers will uniquely design each columbarium to meet the needs of the client. We offer two choices of settings: “garden” style (larger space) or “room” (can be quite small) with no roof. There are endless options for customization which may include:

  • peaceful garden spaces
  • benches for rest and reflection
  • labyrinths for spiritual encouragement and prayerful reflection
  • classroom space for Bible study or other studies
  • memorial plaques to be personalized with favorite scriptures
