Choosing Between an Outdoor and Indoor Columbarium

Many people choose a columbarium to honor their loved ones after passing away. These permanent structures are comprised of spaces called niches, and they house the urns of those who have been cremated. An Outdoor Columbarium

Outdoor columbariums are the most common type that we design for our clients. These could be at a cemetery or a church and typically incorporate gardens and other landscaping features to create a beautiful, sacred space for honoring loved ones. Our clients may include special benches to encourage rest, prayer, and reflection. Most columbiums are built at church properties, but there are growing numbers being constructed at cemeteries as well.

An Indoor Columbarium

Indoor columbariums aren’t quite as common, but they are the best fit for some churches and cemeteries. For example, they might be ideal for a church on a busy street with excessive traffic noise. An indoor columbarium could include quiet classroom space for either Bible study or other studies, as well as labyrinths for prayerful reflection. It will provide a safe and comfortable place to sit and honor loved ones when there is inclement weather to contend with.

We offer two different types of settings for our columbiums. You can choose either the larger garden-style space or a smaller room setting with no roof.
